Foundation Year - History

The Library was founded in 1928, initially under the name of Library of Commercial School. It was later renamed as the Library of the Athens School of Economics and Business. This name was retained until 1989 when it assumed its present name "Library of the Athens University of Economics and Business". It constitutes one central library and operates as an independent and decentralized unit at Division level.

Who can access the Library

The Library is primarily for all members of the AUEB community. It is also open to the broader academic and research community both in Greece and abroad, as well as to the general public.

  • European Documentation Center - EDC (1992-): Official EU publications and specialized information about EU institutions, policies and legislation. The Library is a member of the Europe Direct network which is under the umbrella of the European Commission.

  • Documentation Center of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development - OECD (1997-): The official OECD depository library in Greece with access to the OECD iLibrary and specialized information for the policies and activities of the Organization.

  • Documentation Center of World Tourism Organization - WTO (2004-): Publications of WTO and information about its activities in cooperation with Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises.

  • Digital Collections: AUEB Yearbooks and Economic and Social Sciences Archive by D. Kalitsounaki (accessible via Google Books).

KEPE Library was founded in 1962. This special research library includes a rich collection of Greek and foreign-language scientific books and journals in the social sciences, with emphasis on economics, contributing significantly to encouraging economic research in our country.

Foundation Year - History

The Library of the National Bank of Greece was founded in 1919 and it has operated continuously since then. Initially the Library’s primary goal was to offer its services to the Bank’s Statistics Department. To this day the Library provides materials and services to support the Department of Economic Analysis and caters to the information needs of the Bank’s personnel.

Who can access the Library

Employees of the National Bank of Greece and the general public. Books may be lent out to the Bank’s employees and local libraries.
