The Hellenic Economic Library Network (H.E.LI.N.) was established in 2012 and is a collaboration of libraries that are linked by their collections, their resources and their information services, all with economics content. The mission of H.E.LI.N. is to provide efficient and quality services to its user communities via an exchange of resources and services amongst the library-members.
In 2017 - 2018, H.E.LI.N. organized informational visits and guided tours to the library members of the network. The libraries of the following organizations participate in H.E.LI.N.: Alpha Bank, National Bank of Greece, the Hellenic Statistical Authority, the Centre of Planning and Economic Research, the Athens University of Economics and Business, the University of Piraeus, the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, the Bank of Greece, the Ministry of Finance and Development, and the Harokopio University.
This year, in 2019, the Network wants to organize and present some of its audience's suggestions which have been taken from evaluations of activities and events in previous years. Within this context, the Network has planned two guided tours in the new building of the National Library of Greece at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. The tours will be conducted by the Library's specialized and experienced staff.
The first guided tour will take place on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 15.00 - 17.00. The meeting point is the reception area of the National Library of Greece (NLG) 10 minutes before the start of the tour. The tour will begin at 15:00 on the ground floor and the NGL Borrowing Department and will continue on the second and fourth levels of the building for about one (1) hour. Following the tour, the participants will be able to enjoy a walk on the grounds of the cultural center, depending on their time.

H.E.LI.N.’s second book presentation this year will take place on Thursday, May 3 2018, where the new edition of “Επιχειρηματικά Σχήματα Συνεργασίας και Επικοινωνία στον Τουριστικό Τομέα. Βήματα για αποτελεσματικές εφαρμογές” will be presented by the authors Maria Gousia-Rizou and Despina Sdrali.
This publication analyzes the rationale behind the charm of diversity in business thinking and action by using a question and answer format. It also examines the need to adopt a communication strategy that emphasizes people and the needs that arise in their roles as tourists. The importance of cooperation and synergies is stressed, as well. Steps and best practices that can prevent repeated mistakes and that can determine creative and long-term trends in the tourism industry are discussed.
The book will be presented by Paris Tsartas, Professor of Development of Tourism at the Harokopio University in the Department of Home Economics and Ecology. The authors, Dr. Maria Gousia – Rizou and Assistant Professor Despina Sdrali, will give a brief explanation and overview of the book.
