Rapid developments in all areas of today’s life and society have highlighted Skills as key factor, both for formal education and lifelong learning, as well as for the workplace and the economy. Specifically, digital achievements in technology and information have a direct impact on libraries as places of knowledge, learning and awareness, as well as on their employees in terms of the skills they need to have or acquire and continuously develop. In this context, collaborative networks, library associations and consortia, can contribute to putting forward the challenges, needs and changes related to the skills of library staff in the 21st century.
